Leeds Beckett Humanities student Mae Harrison on her social media placement with Film Buddy

Since working alongside Film Buddy in my final year at university, I have gained the skills needed for my
next steps in my creative career.

I reached out in September 2021, as I had heard fantastic things about the companym believe this was
something I wanted to be part of it. I have identified the skills I gained during my time at Film Buddy,
which helped me excel in my role and accelerated my growth within it. There was a lot of complex problem
solving involved, due to the post-pandemic world we are currently living in. Working remotely, which I
had an insight into during my studies in my first year, meant staying in contact regularly via email with
Ben.

As a humanities student, this improved my virtual communications, as I had to ensure my input was
enriched with clarity through only my words. It is understood that creativity was vital during my
placement. Editing graphics for social media and creative writing pieces were part of my everyday
schedule. Simultaneously, I had the flexibility to choose which aspect of the industry I wanted to go into
within the company.

The skills I learnt working alongside Film Buddy and the support from Ben and the team will ensure I am
a knowledgeable and adequate graduate which companies are actively on the lookout for.
