David Catalano (also known as “DaveCat”) Produced several online series including NFL RHYME REEL, THE SMALLS FAMILY, and SMALL MIRACLES. These are three of most successful series in the history of the medium. The combined series have garnered nearly 35 million online views and each have been trend-setting and revolutionary in their own way.

NFL RHYME REEL (with hip-hop star Nick Javas) has influenced not only the NFL, but sports coverage across the board in how they introduce hip-hop music into their broadcasts. It was later adapted by Pepsi into the “Pepsi Max NFL Audible” with rap icons Snoop Dogg, Big Boi, Lupe Fiasco, B.O.B, and The Far East Movement.

THE SMALLS FAMILY was labeled “the greatest web series of all-time” by Yahoo! Music and has created a new trend in how products and marketing companies use the essence of the show in their branding. The viral internet series uses the hip-hop lyrics of the late Notorious B.I.G (Biggie Smalls) in a innovative sit-com format. The web series has been featured on Funny or Die and has been written up on dozens of blogs and sites including Rolling Stone, Yahoo! Music, WorldStar Hip-Hop, and XXL. The series has also been featured on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ new network REVOLT as part of a B.I.G birthday tribute on May 21, 2014. The Smalls Family was listed in numerous publications as one the “Top 10 Web Series of 2014”.

SMALL MIRACLES is perhaps the most decorated web series of all-time. It has swept the awards in all categories for online programming during it’s 2015 release. The inspirational series starring 2-time Emmy winner Judd Hirsch, and based on the best-selling book series of the same title, is currently in negotiations with several major television networks who would like to adapt it for their programming.

Catalano has over 19 years of professional film production experience mostly as an Assistant Director. In 1995 he was the first-ever scholarship award winner of the New York Film Academy where he was taught by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, Hannibal) among others. There he made two award-winning short films, No Ordinary Jack and One Lucky Fella, that traveled to film festivals all over the world.

During his production career, David has had the opportunity to work under such great filmmakers as Steven Spielberg (War of the Worlds), Martin Scorsese (Boardwalk Empire), Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), Tony Scott (The Taking of Pelham 1:23), Sam Raimi (SpiderMan 2), Sam Mendes (Away We Go), Ivan Reitman (My Super Ex-Girlfriend), and John Gray (White Irish Drinkers) just to name a few.

David has directed numerous short films and music videos and has been a member of the prestigious Director’s Guild of America (DGA) since 2004 and the Producers Guild of America (PGA) since 2014.

David is currently in the process of developing several shows under his production company, CatManFilm, and his first feature film that he wrote and directed, Strutting into Chaos, is currently in post-production.
